Report Creation Tool Toolbars

The following toolbars are available for a better and faster report creation:

Toolbar Description
Standard Components

Intended for creating standard report controls (labels, labels with variables, texts, rich text format data, pictures and graphical controls).

This toolbar has 9 buttons:

Label - to create simple labels and one-line texts.
Memo - to create multi-line non-formatted texts.
RichText - to create multi-line RTF (Rich Text Format) texts. RichText used to create colored, formatted text with tables, OLE objects, etc.
System Variable - to create labels with system variables. For example, a label displaying the current date, time, page number, etc.
Variable - to create programmatically defined variables that can be modified during the report generation.
Image - to insert pictures in the report (gif, jpg, bmp, ico, emf, wmf pictures are supported).
Shape- to create graphical shapes (rectangles, squares, rounded rectangles, rounded squares, ellipses and circles).
Line - to create graphical lines (horizontal and vertical lines).
BarCode - to create standard bar codes (EAN-13, EAN-8, Code 39, Code 128, UPC-A, UPC-E,...).

Data Components

Intended for creating database aware controls (to obtain records from the results database).

This toolbar has 2 buttons:

DBText - to obtain text, date, number, etc. field records from the Results database.
DBCalc - to display calculated data using field records from the Results database. For example, to display the sum (average, count, maximum or minimum) of the values in all records of the field.

Advanced Components

Intended for enabling additional report features (such as report regions and sub reports of the main report).

This toolbar has 2 buttons:

Region - to create regions. A Region can contain any other controls. The main use of Regions is to combine controls into groups (useful when combining together controls used for one particular need).
SubReport - to create sub reports in the main report. For example, the main report can display a list of students and a sub report can display passed tests and test marks for each student from the main report. The creation of sub reports is similar to that used for the creation of reports.

Standard

Intended for doing general (standard) operations (creating, opening, saving, previewing, printing and working with clipboard).

This toolbar has 9 buttons:

New - to create a new empty report template.
Open - to open an existing report template.
Save - to save the current report template.
Page Setup - to set up the report page settings.
Print - to print the current report.
Print Preview - to preview the current report before printing.
Cut - to cut selected object(s) to clipboard.
Copy - to copy selected control(s) to clipboard.
Paste - to paste copied object(s) from clipboard.

Format

Intended for formatting text, setting up color and controls placement (controls display order).

This toolbar has 2 combo boxes for setting up font and font size.

The toolbar also has 10 buttons:

Bold - to set up the selected control text as bold.
Italic - to set up the selected control text as italic.
Underline - to set up the selected control text as underlined.
Left Justify - to align the selected control text to the left.
Center - to center the selected control text.
Right Justify - to align the selected control text to the right.
Font Color - to set up the selected control text color.
Highlight Color - to set up the selected control background color.
Bring to Front - to bring the selected control to the front.
Send to Back - to send the selected control to the back.

Edit

Intended for setting up control values (displayed text value, database field name for the control or control name).

This toolbar has one input field or two fields for defining database field name.

Draw

Intended for setting up line thickness, line style, line color and fill color for line, shape and region controls.

This toolbar has 4 buttons:

Fill Color - to set up control for color filling.
Line Color - to set up control of line (or border line) color.
Line Thickness - to set up control of line thickness.
Line Style - to set up control of line style (solid, dotted, etc.).

Align or Space

Intended for aligning (left sides, centers, tops,...) and spacing controls.

This toolbar has 10 buttons:

Align Left - to align the selected controls to the left. Any alignment uses the first selected control for the alignment of all selected controls.
Align Center - to center the selected controls horizontally depending on the first selected control position.
Align Right - to align the selected controls to the right.
Align Top - to align the selected controls to the top of the first selected one.
Align Middle - to center the selected controls vertically depending on the position of the first selected control.
Align Bottom - to align the selected controls to the bottom of the first selected one.
Space Horizontally - to space the selected controls horizontally using the space between the first two selected controls.
Space Vertically - to space the selected controls vertically using the space between the first two selected controls.
Center Horizontally in Band - to center theselected controls in group horizontally (not each control separately, but all selected controls together).
Center Vertically in Band - to center the selected controls in group vertically (not each control separately, but all selected controls together).

Size

Intended for changing controls size.

This toolbar has 4 buttons:

Shrink Width to Smallest - to shrink widths of all selected controls to the smallest one.
Grow Width to Largest - to increase widths of all selected controls to the largest one.
Shrink Height to Smallest - to shrink heights of all selected controls to the smallest one.
Grow Height to Largest - to increase heights of all selected controls to the largest one.

Nudge

Intended for moving controls pixel-by-pixel.

This toolbar has 4 buttons:

Nudge Up - to move the selected control(s) one pixel up.
Nudge Down - to move the selected control(s) one pixel down.
Nudge Left - to move the selected control(s) one pixel left.
Nudge Right - to move the selected control(s) one pixel right.
